Jaki Biography

Jaki Nett, a former Playboy bunny who became a college instructor and an international Yoga instructor and author, was born in Mississippi in 1944, and departed her home state in 1962, for Los Angeles to pursue careers in acting and modeling. In 1967, she became an LA Playboy Bunny. In fact, she was one of the first women of color to join the emerging bunny life. During her nearly 12 years of Bunnydom, she was a Party Regular on the TV show, Playboy After Dark, She earned the position of International Training Bunny and represented Playboy in pictorials and speaking engagements. She then chose the career of a fashion and print model, and for three seasons, she was a regular on the 70’s TV show Love American Style. During her tenure as a bunny, Jaki earned an AA degree in Theater Arts and a BA in Interior Design & Art. During that time, she discovered yoga and began her yoga training, leading to her lifetime career as an Iyengar yoga teacher. Bunnies were her first yoga students.

At present, Jaki is a faculty member of the Advanced Studies Program at the Iyengar Yoga Institute of San Francisco. She also teaches public yoga classes in San Francisco, St. Helena, and other locations in the SF Bay area. She conducts yoga workshops in the Bay area and in Italy, Germany, England, and South Africa. Jaki has written magazine articles and has given workshops addressing female health issues.

It was because of her personal need for physical and psychological healing that Jaki pioneered, through her study of psychology, anatomy and yoga, a way to remedy weakened pelvic floor muscles. For many years, she carried large and painful uterine fibroids, which caused her to develop acute incontinence. As a result of this condition, and her anatomy awareness and yoga experience, Jaki developed The Felt Sense Method®. This systematic approach to awareness of and strengthening of the muscles of the pelvic floor, has evolved to the point where it can bring consciousness and strength back to the pelvic area. In addition to remedying incontinence, The Felt Sense Method®, in its restoration and strengthening of lax pelvic floor muscles, can result in an increase of sexual fulfillment for women. For men, practice of The Felt Sense Method® can lead to greater erection control.

For over a decade, Jaki has been making a difference for women suffering from conditions resulting from a weak pelvic floor. Jaki helps women to strengthen their pelvic floor muscles and to gain the control offered by a healthy pelvic floor, whether the weakness is due to uterine fibroids, obesity, pregnancy, childbirth, menstruation, sexual abuse, or extreme pressure produced from heavy lifting.

In order to continually hone and advance her yoga training and expertise, Jaki will begin another five-month intensive training session with her teachers in India this Fall, 2007. This will be her tenth pilgrimage to Pune, India to study under the tutelage of the world-renowned yoga master BKS Iyengar and Geeta Iyengar. Jaki has earned the Iyengar Yoga Certification Level, Intermediate Senior I .

Jaki has a Masters Degree in Humanistic Psychology and has taught at Santa Rosa Jr. College in California. Psychology of Identity and Introduction to Psychology are her focused courses.
